CENTER PIVOT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
The Center Pivot Incentive Program provides a $5,000 incentive payment to switch from gravity irrigation to center pivot irrigation. In order to receive the funds, 95 percent of the land to be irrigated by the pivot system must have been irrigated by gravity 4 of the last 5 years.
Applications are not effective until approved by the NRD. There is a limit to one application per person/per lifetime. Claims for payment will not be accepted more than nine months from the date the application is approved. Approval of applications are rated by: soils intake family, depth to sand/gravel substratum, maximum high water table, system type, furrow length and groundwater nitrate levels.
In September 2003, the board of directors changed the time frame in which applications are accepted. A Continuous Sign-up is now in place. The Continuous Sign-up will be in place for the 2004 calendar year with the ranking cutoff dates on July 1 and November 1.
The following rules will apply:
1) Applicants must have their well tag number for application.
2) Water tests must accompany applications filed from new Phase II areas.
3) Payment will not be made until forms are in and producer is certified.
4) Nebraska Soil and Water Cost Share Program applications for cost share on
pipeline from a well to a pivot would receive first priority if a producer was
receiving cost share through the Central Platte NRD pivot incentive.
