Board of Directors   

In September 2003, the board of directors decided to change the way candidates are elected throughout the district.  Candidates are now going to be elected by constituents within their own sub-district, instead of district-wide.  Directors who were in favor of the change said that the change would allow constituents to vote for people they know instead of candidates that live two hundred miles away from them.  Sub-districts will now be determined based on equal population per sub-districts.  Each sub-district has two representatives and the district also has one at-large representative.  The change took effect for the 2004 election.

The Central Platte NRD Board is the only NRD Board that does not receive an annual per diem for their service. The Board of Directors holds its monthly meeting the fourth Thursday of each month in the Board Meeting Room at the NRD; 215 N. Kaufman Avenue, Grand Island.  The public is encouraged to attend board meetings. (Board meeting dates are subject to change during holiday seasons.)

Board members are elected through primary and general elections and serve 4-year terms.
